What can you expect at A Friend's House

AFH is committed to providing you with a clean and safe environment where you can examine old habits and begin to establish new ones. You can expect a home-like environment with 24-hour care free-of-charge. You will have nutritious meals each day, and your own bedroom. Your basic needs will be provided including personal hygiene items.

You will also meet staff members who love you, and who will hold you accountable to your goals. Staff members are here to help you succeed through teaching, counseling and even tough love. Our staff are committed to helping you see yourself accurately, and helping you confront lies you tell yourself.

You will have an advocate who you'll interact with everyday. She is the one who will help you identify your goals and make a realistic plan to complete those goals. She is also the one who will challenge you to examine your perceptions, self-talk and to identify the walls you build. You can expect to hear the truth, even when it's uncomfortable to hear.

You will receive professional care from our staff members and consultants. We work frequently with master and doctoral level clinicians. Residents meet with our licensed therapist regularly, and complete psychological assessment as needed.

You can expect to interact in the community regularly. Every day we go to the library, each week we spend time shopping, and every Sunday we attend church together. Our residents volunteer to help at community events and other community organizations.

You will be exposed to evidence for Christianity through various groups and discussions. No one is required to be a Christian to come to our women's therapy and training program, nor is this a requirement for graduation.

Many of our graduates say that their time spent at AFH were some of the hardest months in their lives. You will certainly be challenged, but you will also be loved and accepted by our entire staff.
