Elizabeth
When Elizabeth was younger she hated change, especially the change that occurred when her body began to develop.
Every day through the week residents stay busy participating in 4-5 group sessions, exercising, meeting with their advocate, eating healthy meals, working on assignments and completing work details. A structured schedule is critical to creating a calm environment, and therefore, we follow a set daily routine.
Help for women does not neccesarily mean help from our staff or volunteers who work with us. Interaction between women who had similar experience is important too. Therefore each evening we exercise together. Sometimes we go to the local gym, swim, walk the River Greenway, hike in the state park, or work-out to a DVD at the house. When the weather is nice we try to exercise outside as much as possible.
The weekends are more relaxed, and offer flexibility in the schedule to sleep in, take a nap and enjoy activities in the community. Each Saturday we spend time shopping, and on Sundays we go to church.
