Women\u2019s Aid updates proposed funding settlement for domestic abuse services<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t

As outlined in a previous update<\/a>, Women\u2019s Aid have increased our minimum annual funding settlement for specialist domestic abuse services to align with a new estimate for  the \u2018by and for\u2019 from the Domestic Abuse Commissioner\u2019s office. In their latest funding submission<\/a>, <\/span>t<\/span>he DAC modified their figure for the \u2018by and for\u2019 sector to account for updated population figures from the Office for National Statistics. <\/span><\/p>

Their new minimum funding settlement for the \u2018by and for\u2019 sector is \u00a3150m (previously \u00a3178m). This includes \u00a366m for refuge services and \u00a384m for community-based services. We continue to call for further research to be led by the \u2018by and for\u2019 sector to provide a better understanding of the demands facing the \u2018by and for\u2019 sector and the funding needed to ensure that all Black and minoritised survivors are able to access the support that they need.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime, we have aligned our funding ask with the figure estimated by the Domestic Abuse Commissioner. This means that our total funding settlement for the specialist domestic abuse sector, including \u2018by and for\u2019 services, is now \u00a3502m (previously \u00a3516m). This is divided into a funding settlement of \u00a3222m for refuge services (previously \u00a3228m) and \u00a3280m for community-based services (previously \u00a3288m). Our estimate for the total shortfall from current government spending is now \u00a3307m (previously \u00a3321m). This includes a shortfall of \u00a362m for refuge services and \u00a3212m for community-based services.<\/p>\n

We continue to call for the Government to work with Women\u2019s Aid to establish a better understanding of the funding required to meet the needs of children as victim survivors in their own right.
