Despite the prevalence of this behaviour, society often fails to recognise coercive control as the insidious form of abuse that it is.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The nature of domestic abuse means that it often begins with \u2018red flag\u2019 coercive and controlling behaviours like commenting on the outfit a victim\/survivor is wearing, before escalating into other forms of abuse.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">With at least one woman killed weekly by a current or former partner, identifying and challenging coercive behaviours early is crucial for saving lives.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">As part of the campaign, Merman has produced the thought-provoking film \u201cVan Wife,\u201d which follows young couple Liv and Jack on a campervan adventure, revealing how coercive behaviours escalate into abuse. Liv&#8217;s friend Duncan observes these red flags and becomes increasingly concerned.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cVan Wife\u201d encourages the audience to recognise red flags in relationships and to question and challenge perpetrator\u2019s problematic behaviours before it\u2019s too late.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Van Wife film will be featured on LADbible\u2019s channels, including a full site takeover, dedicated website hub, and a series of articles on coercive and controlling behaviour.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To further support, LADbible has created social-first content inspired by the film, partnering with the actors for segments like \u201cA Day in A Van Life\u201d and \u201cAsking For a Friend,\u201d along with educational content shared on TikTok and Instagram to its 27.3 million followers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">A new instalment of \u2018No Filter\u2019, an interview series to uncover a real-life story has been also produced by LADbible with Women\u2019s Aid ambassador and Teen Mom UK star Mia Boardman. In this, Mia talks about her own experience of abuse, illustrating the impact of coercive and controlling behaviour on her life.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">As the 9-year anniversary of the criminalisation of coercive and controlling behaviour approaches, it\u2019s crucial for society to unite in addressing red flags in relationships and protecting the women and children most affected by this abuse. Media companies play a vital role in driving this societal shift, making the partnership between LADbible, Merman, and Women\u2019s Aid invaluable.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Farah Nazeer, Chief Executive of Women\u2019s Aid, said:<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> \u201c<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Domestic abuse is an epidemic, with reports of coercive and controlling behaviour rising year on year and more and more women needing our support. Men are key in to challenging abusive behaviours. Campaigns like \u2018Spot the Flags\u2019 in partnership with <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110189876 BCX8\">LADbible<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110189876 BCX8\">, who <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110189876 BCX8\">have such a large male following<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW110189876 BCX8\">, are therefore invaluable if we want to end domestic abuse for good.
